I am always looking for story that illustrates the core attitude that makes our sport
of Gravity Mountain Biking rock…
Andy and Pip are ride buddies. I have the privilege to ride with them and consider myself one of their friends. From this vantage point I have witnessed the bond that these two riders have. So, when Andy told me that he was editing together a couple years worth of personal cam footage of he had shot of Pip, I knew that this was going to be interesting. A regular festival of Pipness!
This video of the Fluidride Cup #2 Dual Slalom tells that story of grassroots dual slalom. Sure the pros are the stars, but in the local scene, even the fans yelling from the sideline get their 15 minutes. Some may claim that dual slalom is destined for “Friday nights under the lights.” Who really knows. The truth is, it’s fun and it’s making a comeback.

This weekend was supposed to rain in Port Angeles, WA for Fluidride Cup Race #2. We got rain. At night while we all slept and dreamed of fast lines. We woke each morning to sunshine and perfect dirt. It also is possible that this is why there were so many injuries. But, we won’t dwell on this. Healing Vibes All. Now, there are three things that I must share about this weekend with you all… Continue reading ‘Fluidride Cup #2 Recap’
Tuesday and Wednesday: Hood River, OR.
So, I crawled into Hood River, Oregon and met up with Mike Estes, Miles Sullivan and Carl Warren for a little ride and shoot among Bike Media types. You would have seen Carl Warren’s stuff here, as well as, on Pink Bike with Mike Estes and Miles Sullivan. Kim Sturts, Karen Johanson, and Leif Olson all came down from Seattle to ride with us. By the time we all got together and got up to Post Canyon it was getting a little late. Plus the rain just continued to come down on us. We all ended up riding some quick lines on Middle School and then taking the Super D line 7 Streams out to the bottom pick up. I wanted to ride a new spot every weekend and take my friends with me. I started to make a list: North Shore, Squamish, Woodlot, Post canyon and Black Rock down in Oregon, Galbraith, Mount Washington. So, that you wouldn’t be left out, I took pics and videos for you… Continue reading ‘Epic Summer 07′
