Fluidride Cup #1 Preview Video

This Fox sponsored video shows the Pro/Cat 1 course for the 1st Fluidride Cup of 2009. April 3rd-5th. The course travels down the main trail White Knuckle and across the clearing to Upper Pro Course. Upper Pro Course has be rerouted and drops out below Moto-Guzi to set the racer up for the double into the Woops. After that the racer travels down to the Step-down, followed by a sharp right-left Chicane leading to the Step-Not, into the Camel Hump and down lower Pro Course. There is a special exit this time, as Pro riders don’t have to merge back with White Knuckle. They simple jump the creak and sprint toward the finish berm. This is a fast paced run.

Fox rider Lars Sternberg followed by Casey Northern.

Beacon Downhill Race: Double Down Hoe Down

BeaconCarlPhoto_39.jpgWheel Sport East put on a fun and challenging weekend. Two races in a weekend takes ambition for the promoters and the racers. Great Job all. Over half of the racers arrived on Friday to get a jump on learning the courses. If you’d raced Beacon Hill before you didn’t have that much of an advantage. The tape job brought out difficult and exciting lines that perplexed many of the racers. Continue reading ‘Beacon Downhill Race: Double Down Hoe Down’

Wade Simmons @ Colonnade - Quick Shot

So I got a text from Pip saying, “Wade Simmons is shredding the Colonnade.”

Wade was at the Colonnade doing a shoot for his helmet sponsor- Bell. It’s always cool when a top rider visits your local ride spot. By the time I got down there the shoot was winding down. But I got to shoot Pip leading Wade down the line he’d taken the lead on developing. It was great to see Pip beam from the positive comments Wade directed toward the trail work of Pip and his friends. For video: Continue reading ‘Wade Simmons @ Colonnade - Quick Shot’

Fluidride Cup 2009 - Schedule Update

2009 looks to be an interesting year in North American gravity racing. There is the new ProGRT Tour, the first race of which is the May 1st - 3rd race on the Fluidride Cup Schedule. This is a national race and a new national series with races in the Colorado, New Mexico, and New York. Remember, there is no more Semi-pro category. The cateories are now Cat 3, Cat 2, Cat 1 and Pro. Check out USA Cycling for more.

Maxxis Cup

The Maxxis Cup starts this March 15th in Gouveia (Portugal).

This is one of the earliest races in the International Downhill calendar. Last year Gee Atherton started a strong run at the number one spot in the UCI rankings by winning this first race of the Maxxis Cup. The following video shows the family Athertons tearing up this fast and technical course with a crowd pleaser at the finish. Shot by the Athertons and Dan Brown and edited by Richard Cunynghame. Dan got 2nd and Rachel took the top women’s spot.
